Ducks on Frozen Pond

The ducks have returned from wintering in the warmer south, but they may have come home a bit too early.  Look closely ... the ducks along the edge (behind the bush) are firmly surrounded by ice.  Fear not, as soon as the sun had been up for a few hours the ducks were released from their icy hold and seemed none the worse.

I had heard of this happening during our springs when we get a sudden cold snap (we went down to 7 degrees last night) and even observed it last week, but I had been too shocked to take a picture.  Today I grabbed my phone and clicked (explaining the less than stellar photo) more for proof than for preservation of the memory.  My darling husband is always away when the really weird stuff happens...
