Q: What does your tummy say?

A:  "Blah, blah, blah, hamburger"

JellyBean had his well child check-up recently and the doctor did a very through examination. She was also great to explain to JellyBean everything that she was going to do and asked him permission all along the way.  I love it when doctors do that because it gives the kids a great sense of empowerment and sets the stage for other areas of life.

As she was getting ready to listen to JellyBean's stomach sounds she explained how she would listen to his tummy and then asked him what he thought it would say.  He didn't miss a beat.  I don't even think he took a breath before saying in a very matter-of-fact tone, "blah, blah, blah, hamburger".

She was a bit stunned and said, "oh, really".

To which he replied, "I had a hamburger for dinner last night", like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

He was a bit sad when he asked her what it said and she replied, "gurgle, gurgle, gurgle".  But he shrugged his shoulders and said "maybe it is hungry".

After spending months of being non-verbal after placement and spending hours a week in speech therapy it is (usually) great to hear what is going on in that cute head of his.
